Before embarking on a Reiki treatment.

It is advisable to consult your doctor if you have any of the following:

Pregnancy:  Reiki should not be performed on anyone who is 3 months or less into pregnancy.

Contact lenses:  Should not be worn during a treatment.

Diabetics:  Regular treatments given to Diabetics can alter Blood sugar.  Insulin levels should be checked in case they need adjusting.

Pacemakers:  Reiki can be given, but no contact must be made around the area of the Pacemaker.  Please inform me if you have a Pacemaker so that I am aware.

Cataract Operation:  Please inform me if you have recently had a Cataract Operation.

Operations:  Any operation in general that has been recently done.  Very often Reiki will aid healing but please consult with your doctor first and state that you are having a Reiki treatment.
Having a Reiki treatment

When making the decision to have a treatment.  You will be asked to lie on a massage couch, fully clothed with your shoes off.  You will be covered by a blanket  so as to feel more comfortable.  Soothing music and candles, as well as incense will be used to aid the healing process.  Should you wish not to have any music, candles or incense, please say before the treatment starts.  Although I will ask.  Whilst on the couch, clients who haven't had a treatment before will invariably fight the feelings of release, and will keep their eyes open and generally feel tense.  What follows is that the energy flowing is so strong that they are unable to fight it much longer and either drift into a deep sleep or generally feel very relaxed.  Sometimes you may feel very emotional and generally feel like crying (tissues are nearby) it is very normal and you shouldn't feel at all embarrassed.  It is good to cry, and is better to release emotions that have been welling up inside.  The treatment can take any time between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on how much healing your body needs.  Afterwards you may feel like you can't feel your legs and may need 5 minutes before you feel able to get up.  Again this is quite common.  Very often a trip to the toilet is needed. another source of release.  You will be offered water to aid the detoxification process and also because receiving Reiki can make you feel thirsty.  Remember to drink plenty of water when you get home as this intensifies the Reiki treatment that you have received.  Depending on your personal circumstances it may be beneficial to receive another treatment soon to aid healing.  Once healing has aided you, a top is usually sufficient every 6 weeks or so.
